ARTIST STATEMENT:

My work in metal is generally characterized by three dimensional, organic forms, typically larger than the average scale for jewelry.  My pieces start from raw forms of metal which are then fabricated into voluminous designs.  I often use color and subtle textures in my pieces through incorporating cabochon gem stones and patinas.

The designs are ornate, usually functional as body adornment, and boldly reflect my style through an ample arrangement of silver and stones.  I express my passion for the materials by the significant magnitude and visual weight that my works possess.

Hammering textures can often be seen on my pieces, which I achieve through the process of chasing and repousse. Large stones set on my work add to the overall color and depth of the pieces.

Chain making techniques have allowed me to create designs in which every element of the piece is done by hand.  These chains are fabricated from fine silver wire - each link fused together before being shaped and woven into its final form.  I like the control this allows me, and the variety that can come with using different gauge wires and weaving patterns, as well as adding various pendants and charms.

I am driven to create a unified body of work, and I am constantly striving to refine my products into designs which intrigue my viewers.
